Sentient Futures, San Francisco

Jørn Lager Lyngås is an AI research fellow at Sentient Futures, a San Francisco based organisation working at the intersection of AI, emerging technologies and the welfare of all sentient beings. Its community sits inside the AI and frontier technology ecosystem of the Bay Area, close to the labs whose models now write a growing share of what companies know about themselves.

Through the fellowship he works on topics such as how algorithmic standardisation affects the individual, in the welfare of sentient beings and in organisations. How data stewardship will affect corporeal care, how LLMs' training on human work creates an underlying want for productivity, and how knowledge systems and tacit knowledge that is passed down through thousands of generations of best practice will end when work goes from human to human, to human to agent, to agent to agent.

The questions come to companies as AI questions. They are answered the same way we answer everything else: by spending time with the people who know.
